Independents Day is an annual symposium and 40 company strong exhibition, held exclusively for those in independent practice, whether optician or optometrist, practice owners or practice team members.

Over the past 5 years Independents Day has built up a reputation as one of the key events in the optical calendar if you’re in independent practice. The first 3 events were run on 4th July in order to try and fuse the date into the independent practitioners psyche. In recent years as the date began to fall on the busier trading days and weekends, it has moved around but continued to fill its unique first week of July slot in the optical calendar.

The main programme has developed from a mixture of clinical and commercial content, to become purely business focussed in recent years. At the same time we’ve introduced sponsor’s CET workshops for those from the practice who’d like to pick-up some points.

Finally last year, seeing the trend for owners bringing members of the practice support team, PTR added an Optical Assistants Track - a parallel programme dedicated to these important practice personnel.
