PTR is deeply disappointed to have to announce the postponement of our planned return to the optical events calendar on Sunday 4th July. Independents Day was due to take place 2-weeks after the current date for the governments ending of COVID restrictions on 21st June. With that date now looking in jeopardy we believe it is sensible to delay until the autumn.
Commenting on the decision, Director Nick Atkins said, “Increasing feedback from colleagues in the last couple of weeks began to strongly suggest that, as with the public at large, there is an increasing feeling of cautiousness due to the spread of the recent COVID variant. It is this, combined with the increasingly likely delay to the ending of restrictions, that meant David and I decided we didn’t want to go to the wire, only to have to ultimately make the same decision. It is better for everyone, delegates, sponsors, and exhibitors to have plenty of notice to rearrange plans.”
Co-Director David Goad added, “Nick and I are bitterly disappointed to have had to come to this decision. After the nightmare that was 2020, we were looking forward to getting back to some semblance of normality and, were confident that with the vaccination programme in full swing, combined with the planned ending of restrictions, we could safely run the first face-to-face conference of 2021.”
Working with the venue, speakers and exhibitors we are pleased to announce that we have managed to reschedule to Sunday 24th October. We are also delighted to be able to advise that the rearranged event – ‘Commercialising Myopia Management’ – will remain unchanged, except for the date.
