Proven Track Record, has confirmed that it has had to postpone the 1-day event due to take place at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham on Sunday 24th October. The company confirmed it is now looking at running its meeting in early Spring 2022.
Commenting on the decision, Director Nick Atkins said, “Like many other optical events we are sadly a casualty of the current situation and whilst we have continued to add delegates since the summer postponement, sadly the numbers do not make running the event commercially viable. There is a double whammy conspiring against live optical events currently. The main issue is the backlog of patients practices are still dealing with meaning, for many, taking time out to attend events, even on a Sunday, doesn’t seem to be a consideration at the moment. Combine that with significant role most independent practice owners have in delivering their eye care service and it’s understandable why there is cautiousness regarding attending iDay, or any large meeting, due to the risk of ill-health to the business.”
Co-Director David Goad added, “After the postponement due to the delayed ending of national restrictions, Nick and I are deeply disappointed to have had to come to this decision. After the nightmare that was 2020, we were looking forward to getting back to some semblance of normality. Sadly, our confidence that, with the vaccination programme in full swing, the planned ending of restrictions, as well as our strict COVID protocols, we could run a face-to-face conference in 2021, proved a little optimistic.”
The rearranged event will remain themed ‘Commercialising Myopia Management’, with most, if not all, of the speakers, sponsors, and exhibitors unchanged.
